Iris Sphincter Damage After Blunt Trauma, Traumatic Mydriasis
After blunt trauma to the eye the pupil is in middilation and does not react to light. The pupillary margin appears serrated due to tears in the sphincter muscle. The sudden blunt trauma pushes the iris backwards and forces the pupil to dilate very rapidly resulting in multiple tears of the sphincter.
