Beginning Cystoid Macular Oedema Following Cataract Surgery (OCT)
Image showing optical coherence tomography of a beginning cystoid macular oedema, 2 months after of a regular cataract surgery. The OCT-image presents an accumulation of fluid in the paracentral retina due to leakage from dilated capillaries. The visual acuity was 0.9. 70 years of age, female, R/L secondary open angle glaucoma, cataract corticalis. A cataract surgery was performed in January 2010 without any intraoperative complications. Two months after surgery we found a beginning cystoid macular edema with a decrease of visual acuity. After a therapy of topical steroids and systemic Carboanhydrase inhibitor the cystoid macular edema diminuished. The final visual acuity was 1.0.
